veg pizza is traditionally an italian cuisine and famous all over the world as snacks or as a main meal. It is equally loved by foodies in India.
pizza basically is a flatbread made of fermented all purpose flour or maida and then topped with pizza tomato sauce, generous amount of mozarella cheese and toppings of your choice.
pizza can be both vegetarian as well as non vegetarian. toppings can be added as per your preference like onion, capsicum, tomatoes, mushrooms, corns, olives, jalapenos, paneer, etc. chicken and meat toppings are done for having a non vegetarian version of pizza. i personally prefer only veg pizzas.
pizza can be prepared in a variety of ways and today I'm sharing a simple veg pizza recipe with yeast and onion, tomato and capsicum topping.
I usually prick my pizza base with fork or else it will result in an uneven puffing up while baking, so do not forget to miss this step.
I prefer using olive oil in my pizza dough as it gives me good results, you can use sunflower oil as well. instead of making your own pizza sauce, you can use ready made pizza sauces available in stores.
any leftover dough can be cling wrapped and stored in fridge for using it later, it stays well for one or two days. you can even make stuffed buns or any shape breads with the same pizza dough.
Let's go on to the recipe in detail on how to make a veg pizza.

The Dough
Pizza Sauce
Topping
1. In a large mixing bowl, take some warm water and add yeast and sugar. Mix and keep in a warm place for 10 minutes for the yeast to ferment.
2. After the yeast has fermented add salt, oil and stir.
3. Add the flour and start kneading to form a soft dough by adding little water or milk for around 5-6 minutes.
4. Apply some oil over the dough, cling wrap the bowl and keep in a warm place for two hours.
5. After two hours, it would have doubled in size, lightly punch the dough to release the air.
6. Sprinkle flour on the kitchen slab and cut the dough in two portions and roll into circular discs with about 1/4 inch thickness.
7. Place the disc onto a dusted baking tray, apply some oil on top of the base and let it rest again for 15 minutes in a warm place.
8. For making the sauce, heat oil and saute the minced garlic.
9. Add tomatoes, salt, sugar, oregano, pepper powder and cook over low flame till all water dries up. Let the mixture cool.
10. In the meantime, chop the toppings - tomato, onion and capsicum. Sprinkle some salt and black pepper, mix and keep.
11. Now, let's assemble the pizza. First with the help of a fork, prick the pizza base all through. This ensures even baking and the base not puffing up.
12. Apply tomato sauce evenly over the base leaving the sides a bit. Sprinkle some cheese all over.
13. Now top it with capsicum, onion and tomato slices. Next spread the shredded cheese to cover the whole pizza. Sprinkle some mixed herbs or oregano over it.
14. Place the pizza in a preheated oven and bake at 180 C for 15-20 minutes or until the cheese melts.
15. Your veg pizza is ready, slice and serve.
