medu vada is a traditional south indian breakfast recipe that pairs up perfectly with coconut chutney and sambar.
medu vada is usually served as breakfast but is enjoyed as snacks along with a cup of tea. it goes as a side with a plate of idlis as well.
1. Drain the soaked dal and blend it to a smooth batter in a mixer by adding a little water at a time.
2. Add cumin seeds, curry leaves, green chillies, crushed black peppercorns, ginger and salt. Mix well.
3. Divide the mixture into 8-10 equal portions.
4. Wet your hands and take a portion of the mixture and make a hole in the centre with your thumb.
5. Heat oil in a kadhai and drop the shaped vada in oil. Deep fry till both sides turn golden brown in colour. Remove and keep on an absorbent paper. Repeat till all the vadas are done.
6. Serve hot with coconut chutney and sambar.

Ingredients
- 1 cup urad dal, washed and soaked for 3-4 hours
- 1/2 teaspoon cumin seeds
