Mushroom Pepper Fry Recipe

Mushroom pepper fry is an easy to make and healthy recipe with an aromatic flavor of crushed black pepper and fennel seeds.

Mushroom pepper fry is a South Indian recipe which can prepared in a jiffy. You can serve this mushroom pepper fry with roti or rice or as a side dish in your south Indian meal or even with plain daal rice as well.

You can also use this recipe as a filling for sandwiches and wraps.

Mushrooms have got high moisture content, hence they release lot of water while cooking. For making this dry mushroom recipe, you need to cook the mushrooms on medium heat till all the water evaporates.

Ingredients


  • 1/2 teaspoon mustard seed
  • 1 sprig curry leaves
  • 2-3 green chillis, chopped
  • 1 medium onion, finely sliced
  • 1/2 teaspoon ginger garlic paste
  • 1/4 teaspoon turmeric
  • 200 gms button mushroom, washed and sliced
  • 1 medium capsicum, sliced
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper, crushed
  • 1/2 teaspoon fennel seeds, crushed
  • salt as required
  • 2-3 tablespoons oil

Directions for making mushroom pepper fry recipe


1. Heat oil in a pan, add mustard seeds and let it crackle. Add curry leaves and green chillies, saute for few seconds.

2. Add onions and cook till they turn light golden in colour. Add ginger garlic paste and saute till raw smell disappears. Also, add the turmeric powder and mix.

3. Add mushrooms and cook on medium flame. Mushroom will initially release water, hence cook till all the water evaporates and mushroom is done. Also, keep stirring in between.

4. Add capsicum and saute till they are slightly cooked.

5. Now add the crushed black pepper, fennel seeds and salt. Mix everything well, cover and simmer for few minutes.

6. Serve hot with roti or as a side dish.
